I’m turning 40 on October 7th and it has been my goal since the beginning of this year to be the best version of myself by the time I hit 40, or close to it!
I was a middle-lane drinker.
I fell right into the Mommy Wine Culture. I deserved a glass of wine (or two or three) after a long day and to help me get through bedtime with my 3 kiddos.
I didn’t sleep well, I had low energy, I had brain fog, and I was impatient with my kids and my husband.
All because I lived my days for my wine at night.
I tried to moderate, telling myself to only drink on weekends, but that never stuck. Last year I removed alcohol after reading a few quit-lit books, but the motivation wore off after 6 weeks and I was quickly back to my old ways.
I am so incredibly grateful I found Over the Influence earlier this year. I heard Shaz on This Naked Mind podcast and instantly felt like she was my kind of lady!
I couldn’t stop listening to the OTI podcast and caught up on the first two years of episodes in the course of a few weeks.
Two weeks into my OTI binge session I decided to try removing alcohol again. This time it stuck and it’s all because I had Shaz, Ben, and the OTI community helping me stay motivated and making sobriety ridiculously fun.
I laugh out loud when I listen to them and the people they interview are so incredibly inspiring. I love being sober and while I don’t need OTI to stay sober anymore, I’m not getting rid of OTI anytime soon. They have changed my life for the better.
I can honestly say that I’m a much better version of myself and I’m excited to go into my 40s knowing who I truly am and feeling so confident and free from the burden of alcohol.
The benefits of sobriety have snowballed into every other aspect of my life; nutrition, sleep, connection, self-love, and discovery.
I now see life in 3D.
Cheers to the next 40 years, alcohol-free of course!
